Unfortunately, I have no information, not even rumors about Google Glasses, so you should get pleased with the idea of a smart watch, based also on augmented reality. Google has just acquired the necessary patents for this gadget and as consequence it can be manufactured anytime.
Another Google brilliant idea? You have got the right to be skeptical, since lately the company seems to make us think of everything surrounding it: Android, Project Glass and now a sort of computer on your wrist, too.
According to the leaked photos so far, the new smart watch with a transparent, flip-up touchscreen will function as a sort of smartphone, the same magic being tried by Sony too, but Google's gadget can do better, it can be used for notifications and other information transmitted from your smartphone or other device. Unlike similar watches, the transparent flip out screen would give you access to full apps and would also allow you to look through it for augmented reality purposes, it's the future of Android and you might wish to have, although it's rumored to cost more than $500.
In many ways the smart watch would act a lot like Google Glasses, after all they are brothers, if you take in account the idea of augmented reality. Since it's tiny like any watch, Google's upcoming gadget will certainly allow you to obtain GPS-based instructions and directions.
Although Google has obtained a patent, competition is harsh. Besides Sony's creation, there is one new smartwatch waiting to be released, Pebble, which managed to raise $10 million in funding and will be produced by Kickstarter, the same company luring you with Ouya, the smallest and cheapest Android game console.
